 Excel Training in Ottawa

Our Excel classes are led by trainers with real-world experience using Excel in business and/or government environments.

Microsoft Excel is the most popular spreadsheet program you will encounter. Used almost universally throughout business and the government, Excel handles everything from adding and subtracting to manipulating large sets of data and so much more. So vast is its feature list that even experienced users often find there is still much to learn. It’s a very sandbox-like environment where you can do almost anything and the more features you know about, the more options you have.

Often the biggest hurdle is thinking creatively enough to determine how various features can be combined to solve a problem. That is why we believe it is vital for Excel training to teach you to apply what you are learning in the real world.

Our Microsoft Excel courses will help you:

  • Work faster and more accurately by getting Excel to do your calculations for you

  • Make your reports more useful by converting plain-looking data into visually striking charts

  • Find what you are looking for in large sets of data through sorting, filtering and other features

  • Get Excel to retrieve appropriate data or make decisions for you using advanced functions

  • Roll up multi-dimensional data into useful 2-dimensional reports through Pivot Tables

  • Save time by automating repetitive tasks using macros

  • ...and more

All our Excel training classes are taught in downtown Ottawa using our computerized training environment. Each student has their own computer. Each lesson is followed by practical hands-on exercises that help reinforce the skills learned.

Our Excel training classes are divided into 3 levels:

Level 1 - Our ‘starter’ class is for people with little or no experience using Excel. We help you understand what a spreadsheet is and how it can be used, and spend time reviewing the toolbar and ribbon interface. Next, we’ll cover some of the more common functionality of Excel, including entering data into the worksheet, saving your files, printing your worksheets, and the different ways of moving around the spreadsheet. You’ll even learn some of the ‘fun’ parts of Excel, like basic formulas. You’ll want to choose this introductory course if you’ve never used Excel before or have seldom used it. If you have a bit of experience but are self-taught, you might want to consider this level as a review; you’ll be amazed at how quickly some things can be done once you know how they really work.

Level 2 - This intermediate class is where things start to get exciting. More advanced formulas, the ability to sort, filter and manage tables of data and other features will put the true power of Excel in your hands. If you have taken the Level 1 course or use Excel regularly but don’t feel you’re getting the most out of it, this is the course for you. Level 2 is often where you learn the skills that empower you to amaze your untrained colleagues with powerful feats.

Level 3 - Learn how to truly bend Excel to your will in this advanced class. Armed with a better understanding of how to build entire workbooks instead of just independent spreadsheets, you’ll also benefit from features like data validation, protection and sharing. These features will empower you to create workbooks that others in your organization can use, share and benefit from. These workbooks will be easy for them to use and limit what they can do, in order to prevent data errors. You’ll gain knowledge of how to import data into and export data from Excel, giving you access to even more sources of information. You’ll also get to try out the new analysis tools you will be learning.

Even the simplest task in Excel can appear almost magical to the untrained. Book an Excel training session with us today and quickly become your office’s resident genius. Just promise to use your powers for good.

Also available: Private Excel training in Ottawa. If you prefer either one-on-one training for yourself or group training for your office, let us know. We can send a trainer to your location or you can join us in our computer lab for your own customized private session.
